Target: Legoland Florida General Manager Adrian Jones
Goal: Applaud theme park for supporting renewable energy and recycling efforts
Legoland, a theme park in Florida, celebrated their new conservation initiatives by powering their entire park on renewable energy for the observance of Earth Day. These initiatives include a plan from the park to permanently power a section called the ‘Imagination Zone’ on renewable energy from solar panels. They also plan to implement an area where guests can explore miniature model communities also running on renewable energy.
The park has not only adopted renewable energy practices, but they have also made a significant effort in using recycled materials. Many of their benches and trash cans are made of recycled milk jugs. The park also maps recycling stations, with plenty available throughout the park. Unfortunately, the recycling efforts will not work for Lego toy production itself due to high regulations on the toy industry and risk of “contamination issues.” The company’s Senior Director of Environmental Sustainability, Tom Brooks is currently searching for lower carbon alternatives for Lego toy production.
With the major evidence of the negative effects of overusing non-renewable energy sources on this planet, it is necessary to educate people about the importance of renewable energy. Sign this petition to applaud the directors of the theme park for supporting renewable energy and recycling efforts.
Dear Adrian Jones,
I would like to applaud your company’s new and existing conservation initiatives. Your plan to utilize solar panels to power the ‘Imagination Zone’ is a great step towards showing the community the importance of renewable energy. Learning about renewable energy is essential to our planet’s future, so thank you for implementing this valuable education into your park.
I realize that recycled materials cannot be used for Lego toy production itself because of the “risk of contamination issues,” but I am urging your company to continue searching for lower carbon alternatives for Lego toy production. Until then, please continue to make significant efforts in using recycled materials and encouraging your guests to recycle.
Thank you for the strides you are taking to promote environmental sustainability. I urge you to use your outreach to demonstrate the significance of renewable energy to a greater audience.
