Target: Mike Kelly, Director of Health at United Kingdom’s National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE)
Goal: Thank United Kingdom organization for preventing teens from abusing steroids
Reports have shown that teenagers are increasingly turning to steroids to achieve the bodies that they want. Steroid drugs are highly effective for building muscles; and to young people who go to the gym, the substantial amount of muscle gained in a short amount of time with steroids is a very popular option. A teenager goes through a lot of hormonal changes, so adding this type of drug into their system can cause considerable damage. This is a growing problem that needs to be fixed because the young age group appears uninformed about the dangers steroid drugs.
The UK has decided to address the problem by getting their National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) to ask needle exchange facilities in the area to donate additional syringes for those who are mistreating the drug. Although it is legal to own steroids for personal use in the UK, it is an offense to sell them. However, with the help of the Internet, it is very easy for teenagers to get their hands on steroids.
Steroid abuse is a complicated issue because the people who are abusing them do not see themselves as users. The steroid users usually look large and healthy, not frail and weak like the average drug user.
Please sign this petition to thank NICE for helping to combat steroid use among teenagers in the UK.
Dear Director Kelly,
Steroid use among young teenagers is a highly concerning issue because their bodies are still growing. Studies show that steroid use in teenagers can cause a stunt in growth, among other health issues. Thank you for trying to reach out to teenagers who are on the drug and cannot quit. There is a lot of risk to needle sharing, and giving the teenagers the option to go to a needle exchange facility will save their lives.
There needs to be more support for groups like NICE that can show teenagers that they can achieve their desired bodies if they work hard, eat right, and stick to their work out plans. Steroids give quick results, but can cause their bodies to shut down and leave negative consequences. Thank you for doing something about this issue that is affecting teenagers all over the world.
