Target: Animal Welfare Organizations, Best Friends Animal Society
Goal: Commend Best Friends Animal Society and its campaign for no-kill shelters in Utah
Utah may become a no-kill shelter state by the year 2019 as a result of a campaign brought together by Best Friends Animal Society and a group of thirty-six other animal welfare organizations. The campaign seeks to save at least 90 percent of the state’s shelter animals. The campaign focuses on educating shelter personnel on the importance of spaying and neutering animals, increasing animal adoptions and decreasing the number of animals euthanized.
The state of Utah has fifty-six animal shelters, and twenty-three of those shelters are no-kill shelters. The campaign aims to change the way shelters determine which animals should be euthanized. Instead of euthanizing animals due to over-crowding in the kennels, the campaign seeks to inform the shelters that in order to save the lives of shelter animals, euthanization should only be given to animals with medical or behavioral issues. If the campaign is successful, Utah will become the second state in the United States to have a 90 percent shelter animal survival rate.
Best Friends Animal Society and the group of thirty-six other animal welfare organizations are going to save the lives of hundreds of shelter animals in the state of Utah, but they cannot achieve their goal unless the campaign is successful. Sign this petition and show your support towards the No-Kill Utah campaign.
Dear Best Friends Animal Society,
It has come to my attention and you are planning on making Utah a no-kill shelter state. I would like to commend you on your efforts in the campaign. I believe that you are giving these animals a voice by speaking on their behalf. They do not want to be euthanized and this campaign could save the lives of hundreds of shelter animals.
I would also like to thank you for recognizing the importance of educating shelter personnel of the importance of spaying and neutering animals and getting them adopted. Many shelter animals are put down because of over-crowding in the shelters. By adopting out more animals, more room will be made in the kennels and those animals will have found a home with a loving family.
I hope that the campaign you have brought together will be successful, for the sake of the shelter animals in Utah. You are their chance towards a better life. By saving hundreds of shelter animals from being euthanized, you are also giving hundreds of shelter animals another chance at a better life.
