Target: Gladwin County Mayor, Thomas L. Winarski
Goal: Don’t let funding for crucial animal welfare services disappear
Voters in Gladwin, Michigan will soon have a chance to restore funding for a local animal shelter that gives abandoned pets a chance to find loving homes. If the proposal is not passed, animal welfare services will face cutbacks or even elimination.
The Animal Control services and the Gladwin County Animal Shelter would be severely impacted if this proposal does not pass. There would be a reduction in hours and employees which could be detrimental to the welfare of many animals. If the hours are reduced, it would decrease the chances of many animals at the shelter to be adopted. Less hours will mean less adoptions which may lead to the euthanization of more animals, such as cats and dogs. The reduction in hours will also lead to less time to investigate animal cruelty complaints.
The welfare of these animals greatly depend on the approval of this proposal. Sign this petition and support the Headlee Rollback Restoration proposal.
Dear Mayor Thomas L. Winarski,
It has come to my attention that a new proposal regarding a rollback in millage is being added to the Gladwin County ballot. I understand that if the proposal were to be passed, Gladwin County would receive over 1.2 million dollars. However, what concerns me is the fact that if the proposal does not pass, many departments and services will be facing cutbacks or worse.
For the Animal Control services and the Gladwin County Animal Shelter, this could mean less hours and funds towards benefiting the welfare of hundreds of animals such as cats and dogs. If the bill is not passed, the shelter would have to cutback on hours and staff members. The reduction in hours could reduce the chances of these animals being adopted and may lead to more euthanizations. The reduction in employees will mean less people working towards helping these animals. It is equally detrimental to Animal Control because there would be less hours to investigate animal cruelty cases.
I urge you to help the voters of Gladwin County understand why the proposal should be passed. The welfare of hundreds of animals depend on the passage of this proposal.
