Thank Groups for Giving Foster Children a Memorable Prom

Target: Organizers of the Glamour Gowns 2014 event

Goal: Thank all of the organizations and volunteers who took part in providing high school girls from the foster system with amazing prom attire

Over 350 high school girls in the Los Angeles County Foster system were treated to beautiful gowns, jewelry, and accessories to wear to their school proms. All of the girls were given brand new gowns and shoes from high-end designers such as Chinese Laundry, David’s Bridal, and Jenette Bras. They were also accompanied by personal shoppers and provided with hair and makeup makeovers on the day of prom. “Glamour Gowns 2014,” which took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, had volunteers to help the girls fit perfectly into their new gowns.

Glamour Gowns is an annual event that gives formal outfits to girls in the Los Angeles foster care system. The organizations that are involved with the event have donated over five thousand dresses to young women who aren’t able to spend extravagantly on designer gowns for prom. The event took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center and was sponsored by various philanthropic organizations such as SHARE inc., the Los Angeles City Economic and Workforce Development Department, and Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children in Los Angeles (CASA). Their goal is to improve the lives of foster children.

Dear organizers of the Glamour Gowns 2014 event,

In working with Glamour Gowns, you all have created a beautiful event for young girls in the foster system who wouldn’t have been able to afford to have all of the nice things that go along with a standard high school prom. The aspect of the “personal shopper” to help ask the girls what they like and guide them through the racks is an experience that they would not have experienced otherwise.

The Glamour Gowns event is a wonderful contribution by all of the various organizations involved. It is important because they help foster care children feel like they can succeed and achieve all of their goals. Nurturing these children will always have a positive outcome in the end.

Thank you for teaming up and making a prom a day to remember for the girls of Los Angeles. Hopefully in the future, this event will be able to expand into more cities.
