Remove Remaining Animals from Abusive Hospice

Target: New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman

Goal: To remove any remaining animals from abusive animal hospice and rehabilitation center.

Animal cruelty charges have rightfully been filed against Susan Marino, the founder and executive director of a New York state animal hospice that housed terminally-ill animals and claimed to rehabilitate those sick. Marino drastically neglected elderly and ailing animals, resulting in hundreds of slow deaths. Cruelty charges are not enough in this heinous act. The surviving animals found among the dead must be removed, and Angel’s Gate, Inc. must be shut down permanently.

After receiving a tip from a job applicant, an undercover PETA investigator volunteered at Angel’s Gate where there is no veterinarian on staff, reporting animals that were left to suffer for up to weeks from treatable conditions, such as respiratory infections, that would have been eased with proper veterinary care. The poor animals that were faced with paralysis were denied wheeled carts and had no choice but to drag themselves from room to room, sustaining bleeding wounds and other serious injuries. Other animals were left to sit in their own feces for days, developing rashes. Some were forced to live outside under freezing temperatures, while others were stuck in baby cribs or bathtubs. Animals were denied medication or pain relief, succumbing to painful and slow deaths while the surrounding animals continued to suffer. After reading PETA’s 27-page complaint, county investigators searched Angel’s Gate, leading to Marino’s animal cruelty charges and the citation of dozens of animals that needed to be humanely euthanized.

Although five charges have been filed against Marino, formerly known as a local hero, surviving animals remain at Angel’s Gate, where they await medical attention. These animals must be immediately removed to other facilities for the treatment and medication they need. The New York State Attorney General must shut down the residential non-profit home indefinitely.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Eric T. Schneiderman, New York State Attorney General,

Animal cruelty charges have been filed against Susan Marino, the founder and executive director of the New York state animal hospice, Angel’s Gate, Inc. Marino neglected elderly and ailing animals, denying them medication or pain relief, resulting in many preventable deaths. County investigators searched Angel’s Gate, leading to Marino’s animal cruelty charges and the citation of dozens of animals that needed to be humanely euthanized.

Although five charges have been filed against Marino, surviving animals remain at Angel’s Gate, where they await medical attention. These animals must be immediately removed to other facilities for the treatment and medication they need. The New York State Attorney General must shut down the residential non-profit home indefinitely in order to stop the animal abuse and neglect.

Sincerely,

  1. signed and shared…!! this breaks my heart… What the hell is going on in this world!! So much abuse!! So very hurting and sad..

  2. Atrocious!

  3. Please have compassion for the animals who have survived this ordeal, Remove them immediately and give them the medical attention they need. It is the only way these innocent ones will survive. This woman needs to be punished to the full extent of the law.

  4. This is a horrible case–neglecting and abusing old, sick, and defenseless animals while their previous guardians thought they were in a hospice and being well care for. I can hardly think of a severe enough punishment for the people who did this. Unfortunately, they will probably get no more than the proverbial slap on the wrist. If that happens, I hope people in the area can picket the prosectors and judges.

I also think that people sho commit such cruelty should be punished by the community if the law will not do it. Do not talk to them, do not help them, shun them.

  5. Kimberly Serino says:

HSUS and ASPCA have had complaints since 2008. Now fours years have past and countless lives. Government is the only agency that can get these animals out or force Marino and her Manager Kari out! Let the animals get the relieve and aid they o desperately need.

  6. Linda Amundson says:

How sad for animals that people choose to defend someone who is supposed to care for them when they need it most, but clearly does not. They still have animals there (although are more careful to put on a good show now) and oblivious people still give them their money and their supposedly loved pets. Angel’s Gate is hell on Earth for those animals. Susan Marino, on video, laughed and said it was a good thing they didn’t see the other house. My heart breaks for all the poor animals who needlessly suffered and will continue to suffer under her ‘care’.

  7. Linda, have you actually been to Angels gate? Do you always believe whatever doctored video you see? If things were as bad as PETA claims then how could ex volunteer Kim Serino last more then a day there? Serino obviously had some ax to grind and gave it to Marino where it would hurt , the animals. She even now criticizes Marino for quickly removing the animals saying it is her choice to do this. If serino trut felt they were in such danger wouldn’t she applaud this? The animals are the ones that will now suffer but serino can at least go to bed knowing she helped in destroying a woman’s life. The animals were just collateral.

    • Susan Marino destroyed her own life by making evil choices!!!! Thank God someone helped those animals, it seems as if Susan was being selfish and being a sheep in wolves clothing to take donations intended for the better life for those poor animals in need and not helping them.

  8. Kim Serino wants credit for closing down AG and she does not understand that her opinions are useless to anyone including the DA or PETA. She was NEVER at AG. She is a former disgruntled employee with nothing to do but try to cause trouble. It is her excitment. Pathetic. I have been there and there is NO abuse. She knows it any anyone with any connection with AG knows it. Peta has their agenda, they DA’s office has there agenda and of course Serino has hers whatever that may be.

    • That awful piece of crap of a human being susan marino will see her day at the gates of hell soon enough, and until then I hope she suffers and that more people stand up for these poor animals who need humans to speak out for them!!!
