Chastise Author for Promoting Fake Weight Loss Remedies

Target: Kevin Trudeau

Goal: Reprimand author for publicizing false weight loss solutions

Author and television personality Kevin Trudeau has swindled millions of Americans into buying his books about revolutionary weight loss remedies. The writer of publications like Natural Cures “They” Don’t Want You to Know About, More Natural Cures Revealed, and The Weight Loss Cure “They” Don’t Want You to Know About is accused of building a whopping $39 million dollar empire based on false, unfounded diet ‘cures.’

The 50-year-old has sold more than 850,000 copies of his books and has appeared on television more than 32,000 times to promote them. A thirty-year veteran of fraud, Trudeau has even conned his own mother by allegedly stealing her social security number to continue his deceitful wrath over unsuspecting consumers.

Once a #1 bestselling author on multiple lists, Trudeau’s books, for a mere $30 dollars a  copy, promised life changing weight loss results — if the reader was willing to commit to the book’s ridiculous rules. One publication, for example, details a grueling and unhealthy 500-calorie-a-day diet coupled with the use of unregulated hormone treatments.

Further, Trudeau showed little to no emotion after a Chicago judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison for his habitually fraudulent and deceitful ways. Instead, he gave an apathetic speech claiming he’d been meditating, praying and reading self-help books: “I have truly had a significant reawakening…if I ever do an infomercial again … I promise: no embellishments, no puffery, no lies…”

Sign the petition to reprimand Kevin Trudeau for publicizing false weight loss remedies and for his blatant conning of millions of vulnerable Americans.

Dear Kevin Trudeau,

I am writing you today to express my absolute joy over your 10-year conviction for fraudulent claims and devious swindling. You were able to con an unprecedented $39 million dollars out of the pockets of desperate Americans looking to lose weight using dangerous fad diets. Needless to say, I believe that you got what you deserved.

Almost 11 million Americans suffer from eating disorders and body dimorphism, a condition that warps the mind into thinking that one is larger than one truly is. With one of the highest mortality rates of any mental illness, your ‘500-calorie-a-day-hormone-treatment solution’ not only perpetuates unhealthy, and deadly, practices but insults those who suffer endlessly from anorexia, bulimia and other EDNOS’ in an effort to attain an impossible beauty ideal.

As you sit in jail with your self-help books and meditation, I hope you realize that your life has been nothing more than a sham. To knowingly hoodwink people into believing your baseless ‘scientific revelations’ about weight loss takes extreme willingness to beguile and an absolute dejection of empathy and, for that, you’ve committed a deplorable act that, I believe, is unforgivable.

I hope you use this time in jail to reflect on the harm and hurt you’ve caused innocent people and may you never write another book or make another infomercial again.
