Target: The Kane County Animal Control volunteers
Goal: Thank volunteers for saving animals from an abusive farm
The Kane County Animal Control volunteers have been keeping a close eye on a Hampshire farm petting zoo in the state of Illinois because they have not kept up with their animal health guidelines. Because the farm has not been keeping up with strict county regulations, the county animal control team obtained a search warrant to see if what they were told by people who visited the farm have been true. Sadly enough, the authorities found the animals at the farm in horrid conditions and they needed to be removed immediately.
The animal control team were told by the local residents that there were deceased animals on the property, and that is when the investigation into the farm started. During the investigation they discovered a number of dead horses, along with dead chickens, llamas, goats, rabbits, and many more. This is a huge discovery since there were over 90 known living animals on the farm. Authorities took over and had the surviving animals checked by a local veterinarian.
They determined that all of the animals had poor health. The animals had been left with very little food and water and were living in appalling conditions. The animals’ water was left frozen, and the food was rotten and moldy because it had been mixed in with the animals’ feces. The owners have stated that a lack of funding caused the horrible situation. Since then, the two owners have been arrested and are no longer in charge of the farm and the Kane county volunteers have been helping authorities remove the animals from the property.
Please sign this petition to applaud the Kane County Animal Control team for saving these animals and arresting the careless owners.
Dear Kane County volunteers,
It is always sad to hear news of animals being abused at a place where children frequently visit, such as a petting zoo. Thank you for responding to the many tips that the local residents sent in. If it weren’t for all of the Kane county volunteers, these animals would still be living in the horrible conditions that people have found them in.
Although the owners blamed it on a lack of funding, there are animal rescue facilities in Illinois who would have been more than happy to help take the animals and put them in proper homes. This showed a huge lack of responsibility and awareness on the part of the petting zoo owners. Thankfully they have been arrested and are not in charge of the farm anymore. Thank you for giving these animals a second chance at life by saving them from this awful farm.
