Target: South Korea President Park Geun-hye
Goal: Ban cruel cosmetic testing on animals in South Korea
On March 11, 2013, the European Union passed historic legislation which banned animal tested cosmetics. This important statute continues to prevent countless animals from being tortured and killed for cruel and unnecessary product testing. We need to build on this momentum and encourage other influential countries like South Korea to take a stand against animal cruelty and ban cosmetic testing once and for all.
Mice, rats, rabbits and guinea pigs are typically the victims of horrific cosmetic tests. According to the Human Society of the United States, these tests include “skin and eye irritation tests where chemicals are rubbed onto the shaved skin or dripped into the eyes of restrained rabbits without any pain relief and repeated force-feeding studies lasting weeks or months to look for signs of general illness or specific health hazards such as cancer or birth defects.” The most atrocious of cosmetic testing involves force feeding animals dangerous chemicals to see just how much it would take to kill them.
Cruelty-Free International have released a report that will make it easy for countries to adopt bans on animal tested cosmetics. The report entitled “Meeting the Global Challenge: A guide to assessing the safety of cosmetics without using animals” uses scientific evidence to prove that cosmetic testing on animals is unnecessary. The study also presents suitable alternatives to ensure that product safety remains a priority. Singer Dahae Bae recently added her name to the long list of international celebrities who support Cruelty Free International’s campaign to end animal testing in Asia and all over the world.
We need to celebrate the anniversary of the EU banning cosmetic testing on animals by encouraging other world leaders to pass similar legislation. By signing the petition below you will help urge President Park Geun-hye to eliminate animal tested cosmetics in South Korea.
Dear South Korea President Park Geun-hye,
On March 11, 2013, the European Union passed historic legislation which banned animal tested cosmetics. This important legislation continues to prevent countless animals from being tortured and killed for cruel and unnecessary product testing.
Cosmetic testing is a horrific practice that often involves force feeding animals dangerous chemicals to see just how much it would take to kill them. I am asking you to please use your power and influence to instate a ban on cosmetic testing on animals in South Korea.
