Demand Luxury Clothing Store Stop Selling Fur

Fur Pelts

Target: Barneys New York CEO Mark Lee

Goal: Demand that Barneys New York stop encouraging the slaughter of animals and remove all fur from its stores

Animals who are bred or captured for use in the fur industry endure lives of sheer misery. They are often killed in cruel and unusual ways so that their skin can be ripped from their bodies and made into clothing. It is a horrific practice that should not be endorsed by the fashion industry on the runway or in retail stores.

According to PETA, “Animals who are trapped in the wild [for their fur] can suffer for days from blood loss, shock, dehydration, frostbite, gangrene, and attacks by predators” whereas “Animals on fur farms spend their entire lives confined to cramped, filthy wire cages.” Whether animals are caught or raised for their fur, they are ultimately killed in a manner that prioritizes monetary expense over the animals’ suffering. It is disturbing to think that anyone would want to subject another living creature to this type of cruelty under the guise of fashion.

It has been over three years since Barneys New York caused outrage by mislabeling a fur parka as “faux fur.” At that time, various animal rights organizations asked the luxury retailer to discontinue its sale of fur to no avail. Further evidence of animal cruelty in the fur industry has been revealed in recent years, so it is time for the national retailer to re-examine the decision to sell fur. Barneys New York is considered a leader in the fashion industry and as such, it should take the important and humane step of vowing to cease selling fur immediately.

By signing the petition below, you will urge Barneys New York CEO Mark Lee to take a stand against animal cruelty by removing all fur from its stores across the country.

Dear Mark Lee,

I am shocked that Barneys New York is still selling fur in stores and online. Perhaps you are unaware that animals who are bred or captured for use in the fur industry endure lives of sheer misery.

I would have thought that after Barneys stores caused outrage in 2010 by mislabeling a fur parka as “faux fur,” you would have taken the opportunity to take a stand against animal cruelty by removing all fur from your stores. The good news is that it is never too late to take a step in the right direction.

I am asking you to take the important and humane step of vowing to cease selling fur in Barneys New York stores effective immediately.

  1. Deseo ayudar como pueda nunca me gustaron eso de las pieles de animales horrible..

  2. Fur is worn by beautiful animals and ugly people

There is NO reason to wear fur. There are warmer materials, that animals do not have to give up their skin, fur and lives for, non sensitive, non compassionate people. We do not live in an ice age.

The only people who are part of this mass killing , are the show off, look at me bastards.
Patti Labelle and Joan Rivers to name a couple have contributed to the deaths of countless animals. BLOOD IS ON THEIR HANDS!!!!

    • Yes how very right you are Elzabeth. about the porr beautful animals. and to add a few names Elizabeth Taylor in her time,, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Victoria Beckham, all these ‘so called celebs’ are wearing cos its fashion in ‘their world’ They are all VULGAR people becos they have so much money and wealth , they like to show off and, show it off by buying and wearing fur ,diamonds plus all the other crap they wear.. They make me sick, they are ignorant , becos they do not live in the real world and, are turning a blind eye to it all of the terrible insane, inhumane ,happenings to these wonderful beautiful animals going thru torture.

  3. People have worn fur since our species existed. People consume animals. Animals consume animals. Wearing fur is fine. Most people signing and commenting on this probably only have passing knowledge of the fur industry. Quit letting a small group of activists convince you they are experts. Treat animals humanely… Not human-ly.

    • Liana Daskalaki says:

Not much hope with ppl unable to even recognize the content of the web sites they view going around. Hey, this petition addresses that “small group of activists who only have passing knowledge of the fur industry”, have you by any chance noticed?

  4. @ Jack
And I suppose you are an expert regarding the fur industry, and you know so much more than everyone commenting. It’s not a small group of activists that claim to be experts that have convinced so many that the fur industry is brutal. It has been well documented, and many people have seen the pictures and video from many different sources. Unless you are an expert in the field, you shouldn’t be commenting on the lack of knowledge of others.

    • glenn mcgrath says:

I am not claiming to be an expert in the fur industry but guess what, I know what is right and wrong and enslaving animals, murdering them is wrong and the issue of animal rights will get stronger and stronger just like human slavery was abolished

  5. ravinder singh says:

i totally belive in the theory of karma. they and their families are going to pay for the torture and cries of so many animals

  6. ravinder singh says:

if jack believes in wearing fur then he should have asked his parents not to give him a birth as of human but of an animals and then I would have asked him how will he feels if he is deskinned.

  7. “So many people insist they are against animal abuse, cruelty, suffering and the inhumane treatment of animals, yet they don’t understand they are actively engaging in and supporting egregious suffering, abuse, cruelty and inhumane treatment when they eat animals and their ‘by-products.’ If you are against cruelty, suffering and inhumane treatment, then you go vegan. It’s just that simple.” – Sarah Kiser

  8. Victoria Cole says:

Hardly the same wearing the species you needing to survive thousands of years ago and now keeping them in tiny filthy cages to be anally electrocuted (if lucky!) beaten or skinned whilst still alive? Most fur is produced in China where they have few welfare laws , in US/Canada could be clubbed seals or trapped wolves etc, even in Finnish/Irish fur farms conditions are bad – lot of secrecy and trying to stop videoing it to protect it?
