Target: Attorney General Kamala Harris, California
Goal: Demand justice for dog intentionally poisoned to impede research
A leading California ecologist is mourning the death of their beloved pet and research dog, Nyxo, who was intentionally poisoned by an unknown source in an act of pure maliciousness. The researcher, who is studying the effects of a fatal element in rat poisons known as d-CON, lobbied to get the state of California and the Environmental Protection Agency to ban the hazardous products. Linked to fatalities in children, pets and wildlife, d-CON products pose a great threat to humanity and the environment. But, it seems that not everyone agreed with the ecologists’ research.
Nyxo, who was discovered by the ecologist, was rushed to a nearby veterinarian after suffering from debilitating seizures and uncontrollable vomiting following consumption of a piece of contaminated red meat. The veterinarian was unable to save the dog, and a necropsy was performed where an excessive amount of rat poison was found in Nyxo’s system.
According to the Center for Biological Diversity’s Jonathan Evans, the intentional poisoning of Nyxo was an act of ill will, motivated by the fact that the ecologist’s research would cripple the rat poison industry and expose the dangers of such toxins.
More than 10,000 toddlers die every year from ingesting rat poisons that contain the element brodifacoum, which is linked to severe blood clots, uncontrollable bleeding, tissue damage and even brain swelling. Countless dogs and other wildlife also fall victim to poisoning from the popular household product.
When violence is used to silence honest, worthwhile research it should not be ignored. By signing this petition you’ll urge Attorney General Kamala Harris to bring the criminal to justice and, in a small act of compassion, demand justice for the innocent Nyxo.
Dear Attorney General Kamala Harris,
It has recently been brought to my attention that a beloved pet and research dog named Nyxo was knowingly poisoned in an effort to impede groundbreaking research about toxic rat poisons. This malicious act needs to be addressed and the individual(s) prosecuted accordingly.
Rat poisons kill thousands of children, pets, and wildlife every year and the California ecologist’s findings would save countless lives and prevent the harmful product from damaging our environment and livelihoods further. I urge you to take unwavering action to bring justice to the family, ecologist and researchers who lost a beloved companion.
