Praise Animal Cruelty Investigators for Tireless Efforts

Target: Michigan Humane Society

Goal: Thank animal cruelty investigators for ensuring pets are safe during frigid temperatures

Michigan Humane Society investigators are making headlines for their tireless effort to keep pets safe and warm during the record-breaking temperatures that have pummeled the Midwest. Hundreds of stories of dogs and cats freezing to death have brought a great deal of awareness to the situation, but the Michigan Humane Society has taken steps to be sure these tragedies never happen again. For that, they deserve our gratitude.

Animal cruelty investigators with the Michigan Humane Society have not taken a day off since winter began. Since the beginning of this year alone, they have responded to over 200 reports of abandonment, abuse, and neglect. A local news reporter followed the team on an average day, which involved rescuing a pit bull and a cat. Both were removed from their homes and given plenty of food and a thorough examination, including vaccinations. The dog was wet and hungry. They found him lying just outside of the owner’s window shivering in sub-zero temperatures. The dog had clearly been there for quite a long time and the owner was obviously aware and uncaring.

The animals investigators take in are given a grace period for their owners to claim them, as long as they provide proper housing and care for them. If they are not claimed, they will be put up for adoption when they will hopefully have a chance at a much better life.

Because of their diligence, Michigan Humane Society investigators have likely saved hundreds of lives this season, and during a winter when extra effort has certainly been needed. So many animals are forced to endure the elements this time of year and it’s nice to know someone is looking out for them. Please sign the petition below and thank the Michigan Humane Society for its extraordinary effort this season to ensure that no animal is left out in the cold.

Dear Michigan Humane Society,

During one of the worst winter seasons on record, your animal cruelty investigators have made it their mission to ensure no animals are left out in the cold to suffer or die. They have responded to more than 200 reports this year alone and have saved countless lives. Perhaps what is most impressive is that they continue to work even when conditions are extremely difficult for people to be outside.

Thank you so much for your incredible effort. Too many animals are made to suffer throughout the winter because of the carelessness and neglect of their owners. I hope that other shelters and Humane Societies will be influenced by the example you have set.
