Condemn Abusive Animal Sanctuary

Target: Mr. Alan Napier, Owner of Napier Log Cabin Horse and Animal Sanctuary

Goal: Condemn animal sanctuary for abusing and neglecting over 300 animals.

Over 300 animals, including 200 dogs, 17 horses, cats and other farm animals, were removed because of abuse and neglect from the Napier Log Cabin Horse and Animal Sanctuary in Florida. One of the animals, a horse named Apple, could barely even walk when removed from the property. Condemn the owner of Napier’s Sanctuary for the deplorable condition of the animals left in their care.

Since 2009, Animal Services transferred 286 animals to the sanctuary and received dozens of complaints. Attempts to inspect the property were met with delays and reschedules. The state of the animals indicates the neglect has been happening for a long time. Three-quarters of the horses were described as very thin and in very bad shape, including one that had trouble even walking. The horses are being nursed back to heath at a different sanctuary. Twelve of the dogs had to be euthanized due to horrible health conditions. An additional twenty dogs and cats were found buried in shallow graves at the back of the property.

That an animal sanctuary would neglect animals like this is unthinkable. Condemn the Napier Sanctuary and demand justice for the animals abused in their care.

Dear Mr. Napier,

Since 2009, Animal Services has trusted your animal sanctuary with the care of nearly 286 animals. You abused that trust and caused irreparable harm to countless animals. Recently, over 300 animals were removed from your property and an additional twenty cats and dogs were found buried in shallow graves at the back of the property. Twelve of the dogs removed from your sanctuary were in such bad shape they had to be euthanized.  Two-thirds of the horses were described as very thin and in very bad shape and one horse, Apple, could barely walk. Fortunately another, caring, animal sanctuary is slowly nursing those horses back to health.

What happened at your animal sanctuary is deplorable. As the owner of Napier’s Log Cabin Animal and Horse Sanctuary you are ultimately responsible for what happens there. The vast majority of the animals will be saved and find new homes, but the conditions they lived under are inexcusable. You need to take full responsibility for the actions at your sanctuary, make restitution to the animals harmed by your organization, serve your punishment, and stay away from animals from here forward.
