Urge Doctors to Improve Romania’s Health Service Crisis

Target: Romanian Ministry of Health

Goal: Urge doctors and nurses to remain in Romania to improve the health service crisis

Romania is a country with a population of 19 million people, yet in November 2013 there were only 14,400 doctors working in Romanian hospitals. The amount of doctors and nurses working in Romania has decreased by 7,000 since the year 2011. Many of them leave to work in United Kingdom or other European countries, where there is higher pay and better working conditions. However understandable or relatable that may be, they are still leaving the people of Romania with an inadequate number of doctors and nurses to care for them.

Romania is progressively losing its highly skilled doctors and nurses. The country of Romania has high rates of cancer patients, yet there are only 48 doctors who are specialized in radiotherapy. This is the same for all medical areas; there are too many people with health problems and not enough doctors who are specifically trained to heal them.

This health crisis is only getting worse as doctors continue to leave.  A solution would be to increase the salaries of the doctors and nurses who work in Romania. This could stop them from going to other countries for work and leaving Romania with less medical professionals. With a higher salary, more doctors would be motivated to stay and dedicate their skills to treat patients. As a result, the patients in Romania will be able to receive the medical attention they need. Urge the Ministry of Health to implement a plan increasing the salaries of doctors and nurses in Romania.

Dear Romanian Ministry of Health,

It has come to my attention that the amount of doctors and nurses in Romania has been progressively decreasing each year. This must stop in order for the people of Romania to receive the adequate medical attention. They need doctors who are specialized and can give them proper treatments.

By increasing the salaries of the doctors and nurses who work in Romania, they would be more motivated to stay and dedicate their skills instead of emigrating to other countries for work. If more medical professionals decide to stay, the ratio between patients and doctors would eventually even out.

In order for this health crisis to end in Romania, a plan to increase the pay of doctors and nurses needs to be implemented. The health of the people of Romania is at risk if more doctors continue to leave to work in other European countries.
