Target: Prosecutor Shannon Clowers
Goal: Convict pet shop arsonists on felony animal cruelty charges
A Las Vegas woman named Gloria Lee recently attempted to burn down her own pet shop, Prince and Princess Pet Boutique, allowing accomplice Kirk Bills to douse the animal cages in gasoline. Twenty-seven puppies were inside the shop at the time of the incident.
Luckily, the fire was put out by a sprinkler system and firefighters were able to rescue the animals. The pups, including several small Yorkshire terriers, were taken to Lied Animal Shelter where they are being vaccinated and cared for.
Making matters worse, this is not Lee’s first grapple with the law. She pled guilty to insurance fraud in 1998 and was imprisoned in 2001 for unrelated crimes.
Lee arrived at her hearing expressionless, wearing fake eyelashes and flashy makeup. A former customer of the store noted that Lee was detached. “You could tell the animals didn’t receive much attention,” the customer stated in an interview. Nevada Political Action for Animals and other activists protested at the hearing, where she and accomplice Kirk Bills were charged with attempted arson and several other counts including animal cruelty.
Lee was originally released from jail but is now being held on $310,000 bail. Whether the animal cruelty charges will be a felony or misdemeanor is still undecided.
Sign this petition to ensure that she and her accomplice receive the maximum penalty including twenty-seven animal cruelty counts.
Dear Shannon Clowers,
Gloria Lee and Kirk Bills have proven themselves dangerous and capable of murder and arson. With so few laws in place to protect animals in these stores, the least that can be done is to give these two individuals what is deserved.
Lee has committed several crimes over the past two decades, including insurance fraud that cost the state of Alaska $71,000 dollars. She was given the opportunity to redeem herself, working as a pet shop owner. Instead, Lee and Bills tried to burn twenty-seven animals alive inside their cages, dousing the store in gasoline without a second thought.
Lee could have sold the store, hired extra help, or tried any number of ways to solve whatever problem she was having at work. But instead, she attempted murder and yet again resorted to crime. Her accomplice, who actually committed the act, should face equal or worse charges.
These individuals have a deep lack of respect for the law, and have now tried to kill twenty-seven living beings via a torturous method. We cannot wait and see what they try next.
Please charge them with felony animal cruelty and stop Lee from her next attempt at breaking the law.
