Target: National Anti-Kidnapping Committee, Mexico
Goal: Support efforts to reduce the frightening number of kidnappings that occur in Mexico
Kidnapping is a frightening crime that has risen dramatically to epidemic levels across the country of Mexico. Officials have labeled the kidnapping crisis as a national emergency, communicating the danger and seriousness of the problem. In response to this problem, a national anti-kidnapping committee has been formed to create initiatives to stop kidnapping in Mexico. Support these efforts and save the lives of many innocent people.
Ten out of the thirty-one Mexican states see 74% of all kidnappings nation-wide. It is within these states that the national anti-kidnapping committee will focus their efforts. They plan to establish strategies in these ten states to dramatically reduce the number of kidnappings.
Homicides in the nation have decreased in recent years; however kidnappings and extortion rates have actually risen. President Enrique Pena Nieto has promised citizens that he will reduce the level of crimes that most affect ordinary Mexicans. However, kidnapping affects many ordinary citizens, and sadly, this terrifying crime is more prevalent than ever before.
Last year, official figures reported that 1,695 kidnappings occurred. This is a 20% increase over 2012. To add even more fear-inspiring shock to these staggering figures, experts estimate that more than 90% of kidnappings go unreported, meaning these figures represent only 10% of the actual kidnapping rate. Something must be done to protect innocent people from being kidnapped, and all the horror that occurs thereafter. Demand that the National Anti-Kidnapping Committee take action now to stop kidnappings from happening across Mexico and enact a plan to take effect immediately to save lives.
Dear National Anti-Kidnapping Committee of Mexico,
Thank you for taking the time to recognize the seriousness of the kidnapping epidemic occurring throughout the country of Mexico. Government officials have even called a national emergency because of the outrageous rates of kidnapping. Please take action now to save the lives of people who are vulnerable to becoming victims of kidnapping and extortion.
Statistics show that 1,695 kidnappings occurred in 2013, a 20% increase over 2012. The worst part is, experts say 90% of kidnappings go unreported, meaning there are countless others who were kidnapped in silence, with no one ever reporting their loss. Something must be done immediately to stop innocent lives from being taken.
Please enact a plan to take effect immediately to respond to this heart-breaking problem in Mexico. Make every effort to protect the lives of your citizens and stop these kidnappings from happening.
