End Cruel Medical Experiments on Dogs

Target: Valerie M. Parisi, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., Dean of Wayne State University School of Medicine

Goal: Ask Wayne State University to stop cruel medical experiments on dogs

Wayne State University in Michigan has been using dogs as test subjects for their dangerous health experiments. Wayne State health officials went to Virginia to buy dogs for their experiments, violating Michigan state laws. The school transported about 20 dogs across state lines with no official health certificates of veterinary assessment. News reports claim that the school specifically uses the dogs for their risky heart experiments to test the benefits or drawbacks before giving the same treatment to humans. Once the experiments are done, they euthanize the dogs. Documents revealed that a small female dog was forced to exercise on a treadmill just days after one of her surgeries. Then in less than 5 months, the dog was euthanized. The dog’s short life in the laboratory did not provide any useful information that would lead to better treatments for human patients.

Resident doctors and disturbed citizens joined a group called the ‘Physicians Committee’ in November at Wayne State University, to protest the use of dogs in heart failure experiments. Doctors also delivered a petition to Wayne State’s president with one thousand signatures on it. In court, a Michigan judge ruled in favor of the Physicians Committee and ordered Wayne State to provide medical records and other documents relating to the dog experiments.

Doctors are doing their part, now the Michigan authorities need to do their part and plan to take proper action against the school. The police can start by first seizing any illegally imported dogs in the Wayne laboratory, and charging those responsible for illegally bringing the dogs into the state of Michigan.

Please sign this petition to bring awareness to Wayne State University’s horrible animal experimenting.

Dear Valerie M. Parisi, Dean of Wayne State University School of Medicine,

Your school’s health laboratories have been performing very dangerous experiments on dogs. It is not right for the department to purchase dogs from Virginia for the sole purpose of using them in heart failure experiments. For example, one poor dog was euthanized only 5 months after she was experimented on and the experiment didn’t even provide any useful information for your students. There are better and more humane ways to conduct experiments. They do not need to done on living animals.

As the Dean of Wayne State University, please take this petition under consideration and stop experimenting on dogs.

  4. Dogs are very different than humans, as far as chemistry, biology, physiology, etc…this type of experiment is useless.all it does is torture innocent animals ..this is a civilized country. ..testing on animals of any kind is not only cruel, it is unnecessary. As a university , I would expect excellence from you, not this nonsense!!!!
