Punish Hunters Who Killed 30 Dogs

Target: Traian Basescu, President of Romania

Goal: Prosecute hunters in Romania who killed 30 dogs for fun

In a field in Tulcea County in Romania, hunters shot about thirty dogs. The dogs were there guarding sheep for their owners. Villagers nearby saw the scene take place and said the men looked drunk and appeared to be killing the dogs for fun. As soon as the men finished their killing spree, the hunters took the animals, put them into the trunk of their car and drove off. They thought they could get away without anybody seeing, but unfortunately for them there were many witnesses. Villagers near the field saw the whole thing and contacted the police. Police are now investigating the issue, but some people are afraid that nothing will be done and the hunters will walk free.

This incident highlights a larger issue in Romania, where people who abuse animals often go unpunished. People are killing animals for fun without any repercussions. The Romanian government needs to implement stricter policies for people who are charged with killing animals. If they continue to turn a blind eye to these incidents, the problem will keep on getting worst. Romanian law allows for the execution of dogs in shelters if they are not homed within 14 days. This is problematic since the standards at the animal shelters are so poor. This treatment of animals is cruel and needs to be fixed.

Please sign this petition to ask Romania to improve their animal rights laws by prosecuting the hunters who shot the poor innocent dogs.

Dear Traian Basescu, President of Romania,

A couple of irresponsible drunken hunters shot 30 dogs in your country for entertainment. No animal deserves to be killed for fun, and being under the influence of alcohol is no excuse for what these hunters have done.  These drunken hunters need to be fined and sent to jail for killing the dogs and attempting to cover it up by hiding the dogs in the trunk of their car. This incident is both sad and inhumane, and deserves worldwide attention because it puts light on the issue of animal abuse in Romania.

As the President of Romania, please sentence these hunters to the fullest extent possible. Animal abusers should not be able to get away with what they have done. In this particular incident, they killed an extremely high number of dogs and need to serve time for what they did.

Prosecute to the fullest and then some!
    Thank you!

  4. maria rangel says:

    Aplicar a lei de taleão.

  5. Eastern Europeans are just barbarians. Begs the question, why did the so called witnesses not step in and stop this carnage. They are as bad as the offenders. These drunken lowlifes should be hung drawn and quartered. Anyone who can kill an innocent animal is scum.

    • Petruta Mureseanu says:

The witnesses did not interfere because they were afraid. In Romania a person who loves dogs and cares for them is afraid of even saying it sometimes. We are not all barbarians, Jane, some of us are sufferring imensly, if we want to feed some poor homeless dogs we do it late in the evening, with fear that someone may see you and then the officials send the dogcatchers to seize them or they send someone to poison the poor dogs. Do not forget for one second that we, the animal lovers call our president ‘the national dogcatcher’ because he was the first official who started the massive and violent killing of the dogs when he was mayor of Bucharest. Please support us in our fight with your thoughts, words and actions. Thank you.

    • @ Jane Morrow. Your judgement doesn’t help anybody. This is about the dogs being killed and people going unpunished for their crime not about your perceived superiority with regards the culture of an entire geographic area. Creating more separation and hate in the world is not the answer. Animal abusers are not specific to a certain culture. Swiss nationals are allowed to hunt cats by their country laws:
Working together for a better world is much more effective.

      An East European (Romanian)

  6. The world needs more dogs and less humans. Anyone with a gun their hand is a coward

  7. Gillian Devine says:

These lowlifes should be in jail and the key thrown away.

  8. Why did the villagers not stop the killing? they stood by while 30 dogs-their own dogs were murdered – and done nothing -they are as much to blame-they will probably be too cowardly to- if caught -identify the killers.

  9. Melody Halligan says:

These people are barbarians living in the middle ages.

What a horrible country to have to live in……
both for people but especially the innocent animals
    that are slaughtered. Shame, shame!

  10. Vile people. The good people of this country need to stand up for the innocents, and that includes the animals. The evil people of this country need to be severely punished for their cruelty, and their acts must be exposed to the whole public. A person who would do this to an animal will do it to a child.

  11. string them up and just leave them, it is a waste of rope but I could live with that. just cowards, evil vile people.

  12. i always do wonder what is the motivation of a so called “huntsman”.Disturbing thought that someone simmilar lives in your neighbourhood…U can measure the degree of civilisation on how inhabitants of a country are treating gods creation. All my love to the dogs in Rumania – may god bless u poor souls!

  13. Mr Basescu,
The eyes of the world are watching Romania. Will you be known as a modern, humane and wise leader?
Countries show their morality and advancement by How They treat animals. Let Romania and its people be world leaders by doing What is right by animals-those who have no voice- and the laws to bring abusers to justice.

  15. “So many people insist they are against animal abuse, cruelty, suffering and the inhumane treatment of animals, yet they don’t understand they are actively engaging in and supporting egregious suffering, abuse, cruelty and inhumane treatment when they eat animals and their ‘by-products.’ If you are against cruelty, suffering and inhumane treatment, then you go vegan. It’s just that simple.” – Sarah Kiser
