Yasuni National Park is home to Ecuador’s last voluntarily isolated indigenous groups. Allowing oil drilling in this park would not only threaten these people and their home, but would also irreversibly damage Ecuador’s mega-biodiversity and one of the last pristine areas in the country. Urge President Correa to reevaluate the Ecuadorean government’s recent decision to allow oil drilling.
The London Zoo lost a newborn Sumatran tiger, when the cub was allowed access to the enclosure’s pool and drowned. Had zoo keepers been more diligent about constantly monitoring the cub and its mother, this would not have happened. Urge the zoo to place surveillance in newborn enclosures to stop this tragedy from happening again.
