Bloggers from countries such as China and Iran are being persecuted by their governments for speaking out against human rights violations. One blogger from Iran was imprisoned and declared an enemy of the state for writing about women’s rights. Sign this petition and support female bloggers who have been persecuted for defending their freedom.
The FDA recently proposed a requirement for tanning beds to include warning labels, which will help to increase awareness about the potential risks of prolonged use. Over time, exposure to ultraviolet rays in tanning beds can pose serious health risks, including cancer and eye damage. Thank the FDA for helping to increase awareness about the dangers of tanning beds.
A leading neurosurgeon recently commented on national news that regardless of whether gays, lesbians, pedophiles, or people who commit bestiality want to be married, a union should only be between a man and a woman. This comment demonstrates ignorance about same-sex marriage and equates homosexuality with criminal acts. Saudi Arabia recently announced that it may ban messenger apps, such as Skype, Viber and WhatsApp. These applications are designed to allow individuals to communicate with family and friends throughout the world, and the ban would further isolate Saudi Arabians. Non-profit organization Just One Day is hoping to save the lives of more than 10,000 pets on June 11. Because of their efforts, hundreds of animals and rescues across the country have committed not to euthanize any animals on that day, and instead redirect those funds towards adoption. Thank this organization for helping to save the lives of thousands of pets.
Food dyes have been found to contribute to behavioral problems in children and young adults. Sport drinks, touted as healthy alternatives to soda, contain more dye than most other beverages. Sign this petition and tell Gatorade to remove harmful dyes from their products.
The growing trend of breeding wild with domestic cats to create hybrid cats has had devastating consequences. In an opinion story recently featured on CNN’s website, three writers claimed that by recognizing gay marriage, governments would also have to recognize polygamous relationships. By equating homosexuality with polygamy, these writers are perpetuating stereotypes about same-sex marriage as a deviant act. Children as young as seven years old have been found on coffee plantations which distribute their coffee beans to the United States. Demand that the National Coffee Association regulate the import of coffee to ensure that coffee companies stop using child and slave labor overseas.
Thousands of dogs have been confiscated and killed in the Denver Metro area because of legislation geared at ‘threats’ posed by pit bulls. Families are losing their pets, disabled persons are losing their service dogs, and Denver Animal Control has continuously shown an inability to differentiate between pit bulls and other dog breeds. The Leatherback Sea Turtle is critically endangered. Experts believe that many of these turtles are accidentally caught and killed by commercial fishermen whose hooks can penetrate the soft shell of these turtles. A nuclear site in Washington has reported that several storage tanks of nuclear waste are leaking. The leaks were caused by the deterioration of the containers holding the waste, which had never been replaced. Demand that the Department of Energy require nuclear facilities to periodically exchange containers holding nuclear waste to prevent radioactive leaks.

Most Americans know that meat and dairy products contain trace amounts of growth hormones, but because product packaging does not contain this information, no one knows exactly how much of which hormones they are consuming. People have a right to know which growth hormones are in the products they buy. Demand that the FDA requires meat and dairy producers to include growth hormones on product packaging.
Salt Lake City’s air pollution has become so problematic that pregnant women and children are potentially in danger of getting sick from breathing the air. Ask the Bureau of Air Pollution to Control to reduce air pollution by using more green technology.
