Protect Endangered Giant Panda Bears

Target: Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and the President of the People’s Republic of China

Goal: Invest in a plan to protect China’s giant panda bears

China’s determination to protect its endangered giant pandas is in conflict with its own changing forestry policies. According to conservationists, Chinese foresting could damage or destroy up to 15% of the giant panda’s habitat. Over the last decade, demand for timber and paper has soared and forests cannot keep up with the orders. Because of this demand, China has moved most of its operations into plantations instead of natural forests, and is also importing from other nations. However, the foresting that continues is threatens to push the giant pandas even closer towards the brink of extinction.

Although China owns all of its forests, there are plots that are privately owned by individuals. The forest tenure reform policies will allow people to sell their forest rights to large-scale companies who will commercialize their share of the country’s forests. Although it is just an experimental project for now, it will eventually affect the larger population of animals, including the pandas that depend on the forest to live.

Most of the pandas in China are protected, but there are still pandas that are living in unguarded areas of the forest. Conservationists have suggested that the only thing that will save the panda’s habitat would be an investment from the government. Therefore, please sign this petition to tell the Chinese government to do what they can to save the China’s giant pandas.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China,

China has done a great job at preserving the Giant panda population and has increased the species population by 40% since the 1980’s. It would be a sad to see all that go to waste and for these animals to suffer just because of a proposed plan to increase the economy. Destroying 15% of the panda’s habitat would cause a devastating decline in their population. The giant panda could lose fifteen percent of its habitat in China under its current forestry policies, which are controlled by local government.

The pandas need our help to survive and prosper. Please protect the animals that are defenseless toward these types of economical policies and bills. Please do what you can to save China’s pandas from unprotected forests. They are worth the investment and protection.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

That is the only way. We see this all the time, too much lip service from Governments. And not the correct actions.
