Target: Ben Keesey, CEO and Executive Director of Invisible Children
Goal: Support the fight against abuses carried out against children in Central Africa
Invisible Children is a powerful organization guided by the simple belief that there is inherent value in human life. The group protects civilians from the Lords Resistance Army, a rebel group in central African known for committing grave atrocities against humanity in its fight against modern governments in the region. Invisible Children was first inspired when the founders were in northern Uganda and saw these atrocities firsthand. The founders made a promise to a young boy named Jacob that they would do whatever was possible in order to make a difference in his life by helping to fight against the Lord’s Resistance Army. Sign this petition to help Invisible Children continue this fight and keep their promise to Jacob.
Invisible Children fights against the Lord’s Resistance Army from its home office in San Diego using a four-cornered attack plan consisting of media, mobilization, protection, and rehabilitation. This multifarious plan makes it an effective organization capable of instilling change. Sign this petition to support the efforts of Invisible Children in order to forge the way towards a better world.
Dear Mr. Keesey, CEO and Executive Director of Invisible Children,
Thank you for your incredible work with Invisible Children and its diversified four-part action. First, with respect to the media, Invisible Children produces films that document atrocities committed by the Lord’s Resistance Army in order to encourage others to take action, as well as to introduce new audiences to the issue. Second, Invisible Children is able mobilize large groups of people to work together on campaigns against the Lord’s Resistance Army. Third, Invisible Children protects individuals in central Africa from attacks committed by the Lord’s Resistance Army by partnering with organizations that are dedicated to offering places of refuge. Fourth, Invisible Children provides resources to help rehabilitate children who have been harmed by the effects of conflict with the Lord’s Resistance Army.
This array of strategies has enabled Invisible Children to not only help children in central Africa, but also to raise much needed awareness within the United States. Your efforts, integrating media with social change, have given rise to a truly effective form of social activism that allow the general public to experience and empathize with the individuals affected in Central Africa. Thank you for your incredible efforts, and please continue to carry them out.
