Dingell vs. Waxman update…

A vote by the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee on whether to replace the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Rep. Dingell with Rep. Waxman will occur this Wednesday

Dingell, who has been widely criticized as being the “protector” of the Detroit automakers, thereby getting them into the situation they currently face, is facing a tough challenge from Waxman, who has a long history of supporting environmental and efficiency policies.

Given Obama’s stated interest in working on completely revamping our energy policy, the House Energy and Commerce Committee is expected to become one of the most powerful groups in Congress.

Regardless of who wins the vote on Wednesday, the race is expected to be taken to the full Democratic caucus on Thursday, which will vote via secret ballot.
