Goal: Investigate and find person that brutally abused dog
This week, a perpetrator dumped an injured German Shepherd on the steps of the Oakland, California Animal Shelter. The German Shepherd was in horrific pain. The dog was extremely thin, had infections and open wounds covering her body, and a bungee cord around her neck so tightly that it broke her skin. A police officer stated that this was the worst animal abuse case he had seen in nine years. Sign this petition to demand justice for this abused animal.
The Animal Legal Defense Fund is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator. Police are hoping that someone has the courage to step forward and lead authorities to the perpetrator that severely abused this dog. An individual was caught on surveillance video dumping the dog on the steps of the shelter. Veterinarians indicate that the dog is in so much pain that her kidneys are failing and her other organs shutting down as well. Veterinarians are concerned that the dog may have to be euthanized because she is in such intense pain. This abuse will likely qualify as felony cruelty under California state law. The maximum penalty for such a crime is three years in prison and, if convicted, the individual responsible for this crime could pay up to a $20,000 fine.
The ALDF posted this request, “If you have information relating to the identity of the person or persons who abused and/or dumped this German Shepherd, please contact the Animal Legal Defense Fund at 707-795-2533, x1010.”
Please sign this petition to demand that local authorities use their time and resources to investigate this case and bring the dog abuser to justice.
Dear Oakland Police:
Please spend your time and resources investigating the case of the brutally beaten German Shepherd that dumped on the steps of the animal shelter. The dog was extremely thin, had infections and open wounds covering her body, and a bungee cord around her neck so tightly that it broke her skin. Holding abusers accountable is the primary way to protect other animals from suffering from this sort of fate.
