Greenpeace releases an ‘Energy Revolution’ plan

Greenpeace asks, “Why must we look to the past, for leadership today?” And declares, “Join the energy revolution.”
That “energy revolution” is a plan Greenpeace has released in conjunction with the European Renewable Energy Council. Treehugger highlights the main components of the plan as:
- Ending subsidies of fossil fuels and nuclear power,
- Imposing a cap-and-trade system,
- Increase efficiency standards,
- Mandate targets for renewable energy generation,
- Require access to the grid for renewable energy sources,
- Create stable returns for investors,
- Require disclosure mechanisms to show carbon footprint of energy sources,
- Increase R&D for renewable energy generation and efficiency.
I haven’t reviewed the report in-depth, so I haven’t formed an opinion on it yet. However, the JFK video is terrific. I would just add to Greenpeace’s question: “Why must we look to the past, for public leadership today?” There is a growing number of private leaders. The time has come for a public one.
