Target: Morro Bay Officials
Goal: Shut down Morro Bay Aquarium in California, which keeps animals in barren, filthy enclosures
The Morro Bay Aquarium in California continues to display animals in barren, filthy enclosures that often lack enrichment or companionship. The Aquarium has been allowed to operate for years despite its numerous citations by the United States Department of Agriculture for failing to provide the bare minimum of care requirements. The Morro Bay Aquarium is under review this year; please urge Morro Bay Officials to deny the lease renewal that would allow this notorious aquarium to continue to showcase suffering animals for profit.
The Morro Bay Aquarium has numerous marine animals such as sea lions, seals, and fish kept in filthy, unsuitable enclosures that fail to provide any enrichment or basic necessities. The Aquarium has been cited numerous times by the United States Department of Agriculture for violating the basic care requirements for marine animals. Many residents in the area are ashamed of their city’s Aquarium that showcases animals in these deplorable conditions. Many animals show signs of extreme stress and have become neurotic due to lack of companionship and entertainment. Animals can be seen pacing mercilessly in their cages or swimming constant circles in their tanks. Many animals have died due to the inadequate care given to them at this aquarium.
Morro Bay Officials are meeting soon to determine whether this shameful Aquarium should be allowed to renew its lease and continue to imprison sea animals. Please urge them to shut down the atrocious Morro Bay Aquarium once and for all and provide a comfortable, humane retirement for the gentle creatures it now imprisons.
Dear Morro Bay officials,
I was pleased to hear that you will soon be discussing The Morro Bay Aquarium’s lease renewal. The Aquarium has long been notorious for housing animals in deplorable, unsuitable enclosures. I strongly urge you to deny the Aquarium’s lease renewal and give the suffering animals a humane, much deserved retirement.
The Morro Bay Aquarium has been allowed to operate for years despite numerous citations by the United States Department of Agriculture for failing to provide the most basic of necessities to these imprisoned creatures. Numerous animals suffer and die premature deaths due to the disgraceful conditions in which they are kept at the Morro Bay Aquarium. Public opinion of the Aquarium is not favorable either; local residents find the Aquarium to be a shameful misrepresentation of their town.
When discussing the lease renewal of the Morro Bay Aquarium, please consider the egregious, unnecessary suffering of all the sea creatures who have been forced to suffer years of stress and inadequate care at the facility. Please deny the lease renewal request of the Morro Bay Aquarium and immediately transfer these suffering animals to humane, suitable sanctuaries where they can live out their days in peace and comfort.
