Target: Senator Lisa Murkowski
Goal: Commend Senator Murkowski for crossing party lines and acknowledging a real need for environmental reform
The problem of climate change in today’s society grows more and more urgent each day. Every day that industrial growth continues unchecked, the closer humanity gets to doing irreparable damage to our planet. Too many right wing politicians are eager to write off climate change as a liberal myth designed to stymie progress, despite hard scientific evidence of global warming. Thankfully, one senator from Alaska is doing her part to speak out against her party’s backward stance on climate change. Thank Senator Lisa Murkowski for her bold call to action on environmental reform.
After her recent keynote speech at the Bloomberg New Energy conference in New York, Murkowski declared her commitment to protecting the planet. “We owe it to ourselves to keep healthy this marvelous world we’ve been given,” she said.
Murkowski also decried the fighting between parties over whether climate change is caused by human activity, and if so, how much. “It doesn’t make sense to argue about how much global warming is caused by man — whether it’s 5 percent or 50 percent. The best approach is to have a no-regrets policy,” she said.
As the Obama administration launches a big policy push toward better climate change policy, support from across party lines means more than ever. Commend Senator Murkowski for her brave stance on environmental progress by signing the petition below.
Dear Senator Lisa Murkowski,
Every day that we do not make progress on environmental policy, the harder our jobs will be when we must ultimately call for reform. Thankfully, Republicans like you are willing to see past party lines for the greater good.
Your recent comments following your keynote speech at the Bloomberg New Energy conference emphasized the importance of working together to preserve the planet. As you said, the fact that human activity is changing global temperatures is essential to recognize. We must act quickly if we are to save the earth from the negative effects of industrial activity.
Thank you for your practical stance on climate change policy. I hope other members of the Republican party look to you as we move forward with much-needed environmental legislation.
