Starbucks: Support and Uphold the Rights of Unionizing Workers

Target: Starbucks CEO, Howard Schultz

Goal: Allow Starbucks’ workers to organize and support their right to unionize.

Starbucks workers have been unionizing across the United States, but the coffee chain has allegedly been engaging in union busting activities. These activities reportedly include delaying union negotiations and closing unionized stores.

In 2021, Starbucks workers in Buffalo, NY voted to unionize. Since then, over 220 other Starbucks locations have voted to join them. Union officials claim Starbucks is participating in union busting activities because the company has only engaged in union negotiations with 3 of the 220+ stores that have unionized. Added to this, two of the latest stores the company closed had recently decided to unionize. These were a store in Seattle, WA and Kansas City, MO. The Starbucks union has said they believe those stores were closed in retaliation for unionizing.

Starbucks workers have overwhelmingly voted to unionize in hundreds of locations across the country and the coffee chain needs to recognize this labor organizing and engage in negotiations for fair workplace conditions and wages. Sign below and call on Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz to honor the voice of workers and stop union busting.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Schultz,

Hundreds of Starbucks locations have voted to unionize since 2021, a big win for the workers making it possible for your coffee chain to run. Despite having chosen to organize in an open and appropriate manner, your company has allegedly been engaging in union busting activities. The Starbucks union reports these activities are delaying negotiations for things like fair workplace conditions and wages, as well as the closure of two recently unionized stores.

Starbucks workers have overwhelmingly voted to unionize in hundreds of locations across the country – your company needs to recognize that. Please do not engage in union busting activities and support the labor organizing of your employees.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
