Ask the President of China to Make Harvesting Bear Bile Illegal

Recently, an incident on a bear bile farm in North-West China involving a mother bear and her cub emphasizes the fact that harvesting bear bile is extreme torture for the bears who have to endure the procedure. Although the act of collecting bear bile is completely inhumane and cruel, it is still legal in China. Action needs to be taken in order to prevent the unnecessary suffering of countless bears.
Bears who are trapped on bear bile farms must endure torture every single day; these bears are milked daily for their bile. The bears are kept in “crush cages” where they have no room to move around and are literally crushed. The process of “milking” bear bile involves making permanent holes in the bears’ abdomens and gall bladders in order to harvest the bile. The holes on the bears never close and as a result these bears are often plagued with infections and diseases.
The incident involving the mother bear and her cub took place when the mother bear escaped from her enclosure. The mother bear was responding to her cub’s fearful cries; the cub was about to have its side punctured by a worker in order to collect bile. Although the mother bear was able to run to her cub’s side, she was not able to free her cub from its restraints. In an act of desperation, the mother bear hugged her cub and eventually strangled it to death. Immediately after strangling her cub, the mother bear ran head-first into a wall, killing herself. A witness claimed that the mother bear was saving her cub and herself from a life of torture.
This tragic incident could have been avoided. Although bear bile was once popular in the use of traditional Chinese medicine, many practitioners now denounce it. There are several other herbs that are cheaper and more obtainable than bear bile; these herbs have the same effect, making the continued use of bear bile obsolete. There is no reason for these bears to continue suffering. Sign the petition below to urge the President of China to make harvesting bear bile illegal.

A recent event on a bear bile farm in North-West China has exposed the extreme torture that bears must face in order to be “milked” for their bear bile. This particular incident involved a mother bear and her cub. The mother bear was forced to kill her cub and then herself in order to escape a life of torture brought about by harvesting bear bile. This tragic event shows that the bears are suffering so much that they would rather die than continue to live under these circumstances.
While bear bile was popular in the use of traditional Chinese medicine at some point, it is now denounced by many traditional Chinese medicine practitioners. There are plenty of different resources, such as herbs, that can be used in place of bear bile. I am urging you to spare bears from the unnecessary torture of having their bile “milked.” Please take the action to make harvesting bear bile illegal in China.

Just to let you know something you might want to look into… Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has been dealing with the Chinese after EVERY BEAR HUNT… The same bear hunting groups that write all the “wolf and bear hunting laws in wisconsin” The bears Harvested in Wisconsin many times are pregnant sows and many are also trapped as live cubs…well where do you think the baby bears are going? There has been many investigations and if you do some online tracking and looking…it is on the internet with many undercover photo’s and video’s with Governor Walker and His Group of Bear Hounder Buddies Sending babie bears off to China to the bear bile farms for profit . Start digging activists.!!

Se me encoge el corazon, cuando veo cualquier imagen de maltrato, de sufrimiento inútil, cualquier crueldad de esta índole sea cual sea el motivo, no merece la aprovación de nadie, si hay que dejar de comer carne se deja, si hay que vivir menos años se vive, si hay que vivir con alergias lo mismo, nada nada de lo que nos pase a los humanos justifica la muerte de un ser vivo, es mezquino y cobarde a la vez!
