Target: Phuket Zoo Officials
Goal: Improve the living conditions for zoo animals
Phuket Zoo is the largest zoo in Thailand and attracts thousands of tourists each year. However, the living conditions for the animals confined in the zoo are less than acceptable. Animals are kept in cramped, filthy cages and are not adequately cared for. Demand the Phuket Zoo raise living standards for all its animals.
Phuket Zoo is a huge attraction for tourists, yet many who visit the zoo are appalled by the mistreatment of the zoo animals. The elephants are forced to perform multiple shows a day and when they are not performing, the animals are left chained until the show begins. Tigers are reportedly sedated and chained to allow the visitors time to capture photographs. Apes and monkeys are forced to perform shows multiple times a day and in between shows are caged in small areas with no stimulation.
These animals are kept from doing the activities that are natural to them such as flying, climbing, running, and roaming. They are kept in cages too small and barren. This severe confinement and lack of mental stimulation and physical exercise often leads to neurotic, abnormal behavior in animals. These behaviors can even become self-destructive. The zoo animals need larger areas and the freedom to roam, as well as more mental stimulation. Boycott the Phuket Zoo until they provide their animals with better living conditions. These innocent animals are on the verge of developing serious disorders due to their mistreatment and severe confinement. It is time to act now and provide the animals with larger living space, more mental stimulation, and overall more attention. Sign this petition and demand the Phuket Zoo improve living conditions for all its animals.
Dear Phuket Zoo Officials,
I would like to urge you to improve the living conditions for all the animals in the Phuket Zoo. Animals are left chained in small cages until they are called to perform for visitors. The cages are cramped, filthy and barren, and do not provide the animals with adequate mental stimulation or physical exercise. Lack of both mental and physical exercise can cause the animals to develop neurotic, abnormal, often self-destructive behaviors. If the conditions for the animals at the Phuket Zoo do not improve, numerous animals are at risk of harming themselves or others.
It is time to act now and provide the animals with more space and the freedom to roam, as well as more mental stimulation and proper attention that they deserve. Please improve the living conditions for the animals of the Phuket Zoo.
