Target: Governor of Tennessee, Bill Haslam
Goal: Applaud the Tennessee energy company Vis Solis LLC for their work towards developing a new solar plant with rotating panels.
A Tennessee-based energy company called Vis Solis LLC is moving forward with a solar array to be completed in Oak Ridge, a town about 20 miles west of Knoxville. The new facility will consist of seven ground mounted trackers designed to detect the location of the sun, allowing motorized systems to angle the panels accordingly for maximum efficiency. Applaud this company for their work towards developing sustainable, fresh sources of clean electricity.
The 50KW photovoltaic installation is being put in place on a bank in the 1,200 acre Oak Ridge Heritage Center. The power from the new pivoting solar panels will be put to use by the Heritage Center. It is equivalent to the electricity usage of about 15 average homes. The managing partner of Vis Solis, Tim Hayes, spoke on the project: “With our tracking technology, the trackers will follow the sun to get the most light. Our product will produce about 40 percent more electricity than a fixed system.”
Vis Solis LLC is a subsidiary of the German company Vis Solis GmbH, which is supplying funds to the Oak Ridge project. The tracking system is supplied by another German company, DEGERenergie. Other parters of Vis Solis include the Community Reuse Organization of East Tennessee and the Tennessee Valley Authority. Hayes is confident his project is a positive development for the state: “We are a very new industry and there is a lot of innovation going on. I think it is great that we are not just trying to do it cheaper but trying to do it better, and this is a great example of that.”
By making use of new, rotating solar panels and tracking technology, the Oak Ridge solar project is setting an example for other organizations to follow. The efforts of Vis Solis LLC to bring this venture to completion are crucial to ensuring that other companies have an example to follow when looking to invest in newer, better sustainable power solutions. Sign this petition to urge Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam to applaud Vis Solis LLC for its efforts to provide emissions-free energy and keep our environment safe.
Dear Governor Haslam,
A Tennessee energy company called Vis Solis LLC is currently building a new solar facility in Oak Ridge of your state. The installation will consist of seven ground-mounted trackers, capable of following the sun’s position throughout the day and repositioning solar panels through a motorized framework in order to achieve maximum efficiency. Each tracker corresponds to 30 photovoltaic panels, and the full capacity of the plant will be 50KW, the equivalent of the power usage of about 15 average homes. The electricity generated from these panels will be put to use by the 1,200 acre Oak Ridge Heritage Center, the property on which the plant is being constructed.
Tim Hayes, managing partner of Vis Solis LLC, commented on the project: “With our tracking technology, the trackers will follow the sun to get the most light. Our product will produce about 40 percent more electricity than a fixed system.” He added that “we are a very new industry and there is a lot of innovation going on. I think it is great that we are not just trying to do it cheaper but trying to do it better, and this is a great example of that.” The efforts of Vis Solis LLC set an example for other organizations to follow when it comes to solar development, while preventing needless emission of carbon dioxide into Tennessee’s atmosphere. I urge you to applaud Vis Solis LLC for its commitment to providing clean renewable energy to protect our environment.
