Goal: To thank website for hosting “Adoptable Fridays,” when it posts photos of dogs in need of homes
Dogshaming.com is a humorous website that allows dog owners to “shame” their dogs. “Shaming” involves taking a picture of a dog and adding what the dog was guilty of in order to be “shamed;” these pictures are often comprised of adorable dogs who are guilty of doing normal dog activities. While this website gives most dog owners a good laugh because they can often relate to the reasons why a dog is being “shamed,” the website also hosts weekly adoption advertisements.
Every Friday, Dogshaming.com hosts what they call “Adoptable Fridays.” During “Adoptable Fridays,” several pictures are posted of dogs who are in need of a good forever home. This website not only receives traffic on its main website, but also on several other networks as well. Dogshaming.com uses popular social platforms such as WordPress, Tumblr, Facebook, and Twitter. By using such popular social platforms to promote adoption, Dogshaming.com is not only helping shelter dogs find homes, but is also raising awareness about shelter animals in need and advocating pet adoption instead of purchasing a pet.
Unfortunately, most animals in shelters find themselves in danger of being euthanized. Many animal shelters are filled beyond capacity and can no longer find the means to support all the animals they take in. While shelters often attempt to find homes for shelter pets, most of these pets are being euthanized because no one knows about them; these pets are not receiving enough exposure in order to get adopted. Thanks to websites like Dogshaming.com, shelter dogs have a better chance of finding a forever home. More and more people become aware of the dogs in need and are more likely to take some sort of action to rescue the dogs.
In today’s society, a “good” picture of a shelter dog can go a long way and ultimately save its life. Simply sharing a picture and information about a shelter animal can increase its chances of being adopted. Sign the petition below to thank Dogshaming.com for its efforts in finding homes for shelter animals.
I would like to say thank you for hosting “Adoptable Fridays” on your website. While your website is mostly designed for humor, I am extremely grateful that you take the time to address the importance of adoption. There are several shelter dogs in need of a good home and many of them are unknown. Thanks to “Adoptable Fridays,” more and more shelter dogs are getting the exposure they need and deserve in order to find their forever homes.
“Adoptable Fridays” is a great idea because not only does it help shelter dogs find homes, but it also places the option of adopting a pet above the option of purchasing a pet. Given the number of dogs in animal shelters that need to be rescued, this is extremely important. Thank you again for your efforts in finding shelter animals a good forever home.
