Eliminate Abusive Seagull Prank Video from YouTube

Target: YouTube

Goal: Remove horrific animal abuse video

YouTube recently got a lot of traffic for a video titled, “Seagulls on Laxatives Prank,” where several teenagers feed laxative-soaked chips to a horde of seagulls at an unknown beach. In the aftermath of the feeding, seagulls uncontrollably shower beachgoers with excrement. Several people, including a baby, are covered with feces. Not only was this prank dangerous to humans, but it also most likely harmed the seagulls that consumed the laxatives. Such pranks are abusive to animals and humans, and should not be encouraged by Internet forums.

Feeding a human laxative to an animal poses danger because animals should only eat food that occurs naturally in their ecosystem, or food that has been formulated for the nutrition of their bodies. Many species of birds consume fruits, which contain natural laxatives. However, chemical laxatives intended for humans can cause side effects such as, water retention and bloating, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and heart attacks. Similarly, an ingredient called phenolphthalein, that is used in many popular brands of laxatives, was recently banned by the FDA because it causes cancer. Eating a chemical laxative with these side effects and consuming a larger dosage than a human would normally eat surely had lethal effects on the seagulls.

Human victims of this prank ranged from police officers and skaters to sunbathers and families picnicking on the beach. The youngest victim was a baby whose head was covered in excrement. This prank not only endangered seagulls, but was a great health hazard to humans. YouTube should immediately remove this offensive video from its website to prevent this prank from being replicated by others and to prevent support for the teenagers who made it.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear YouTube,

Your website recently got a lot of traffic for a video titled, “Seagulls on Laxatives Prank,” where several teenagers feed laxative-soaked chips to a horde of seagulls at an unknown beach. In the aftermath of the feeding, seagulls uncontrollably shower beachgoers with excrement. Several people, including a baby, are covered with feces. Not only was this prank dangerous to humans, but it also most likely killed the seagulls that consumed the laxatives.

This popular video has received a lot of views and positive comments online because viewers find it funny. However, it is offensive because it shows individuals abusing animals and humans. Keeping this video on your website shows support for the teenagers who filmed it and for their abusive intentions. Please remove this video immediately to stop this glorification of wrong actions and to prevent others from recreating this hazardous prank.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

The teenagers who did this are obviously sick bastards, and should be locked up…who will be next on the prankster’s list…Children? and as to you YOU TUBE you are disgusting to allow such types of videos on your network….do you not have ANY CONTROL….it is time you that you did.

  2. there are a lot of videos of animal cruelty on you tube which need to be taken off now

  3. Oh come on.

This wasn’t some group of people setting fire to cats with fireworks or cutting animals. Yes they had the shits and any nutjob that thinks pidgeons only eat natural products really is dense – they scavenge ANYTHING they can get – and generally have a far more robust gut than humans do.

Hazard to human health – well yes potentially – but I didn’t see anyone wearing protective headhgear from the (admittedly less frequently occuring) overhead excrement that would have been generated the birds anyway.

Videos aiming to torture or kill should be removed yes – but giving someone or something a laxative is possibly not quite the most horrific thing ever to have happened though.

Classing this is “horrific animal abuse” just weakens and demeans the few videos which really ARE horrific. Focus on what counts – rather than weaken your own goal by selecting silly one-off pranks which were more “revolting” than “horric abuse”.

You seem to be missing something here. The effects of the anount of laxative the seagulls consumed could very well be lethal. As in DEADLY to the birds. This is cruelty even if they didn’t die. Tell you what. Compare the size of a seagulls body to a human & drink half a bottle of laxative & spend the day on the toilet pooping your guts out & then tell me it wasn’t cruel.

    • Hey Mark ! Let us give you some laxative and put your dumb ass on the freeway and I laugh my ass off when you crap your pants and I hope you’re on your vacation . Now that’s funny shit
      . You shit head

    • Actually, it’s not very likely that these seagulls have come across too many laxatives during their scavenging and thus haven’t any immunity to them. The amount these kids fed them would be dangerous even for a human- a chemical laxative in an animal would cause dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and even HEART ATTACKS.
Plus, I’d imagine there’s a lot of damage done to the bystanders that wasn’t caught on camera, and what we could view was just immature and probably hazardous.

  4. Ahhh, that makes sense.

I couldn’t see why I was the first to point out the obvious. Your argument is so weak you feel the need to filter out those who do not agree with you.

Still think you should be VERY wary of calling this “horrific animal abuse” as all it does it makes people associate the phrase with silly pranks which are revolting – rather than things which really ARE ohrrible – like that dreadful character who drowned kittens and filmed it for the net.

THAT is horrific abuse. A totally different order of magnitude than giving some birds the squirts.

    • Suzanne Marcella says:

It is quite possible that some or all of those birds died from the ensuing effects of tha laxative. If those birds died I consider it horrific. If they only suffered for awhile with agonizing gut pains it’s still cruelty.
Compare the birds body size to yours & drink half a bottle of laxative & let me know how it feels !!!

  5. what is this world coming to? what a sick thing to do, the video should not even be on the net and those kids should be prosecuted!!!!!!!!!!

  6. lets remove it from youtube! just so all other websites with it get more viewers! getting the video removed from one website will show them! dumbasses

  7. “Feeding a human laxative to an animal poses danger because animals should only eat food that occurs naturally in their ecosystem, or food that has been formulated for the nutrition of their bodies.”

Yeah.. Maybe your cat, but defentily not wild animals that live in cities.

And i agree with Mark here, you are focusing on the complete wrong things, ive seen plenty of clips that need peoples attention where it´s about real cruelty to animals.

    This? Come on..
I’ve even had a seagull for 2 months since it’s ben pushed of the roof when it was a little tard (he made it fine, the bird is still returning to my balcony every now and then and it’s ben 1 year ago since i released it) and i can tell you those crazy birds eats everything they can get and has done this since man started to trow trash everywhere.

How many dead seagulls have you seen?

  8. KillAllSeagullsInTheCities says:

I don’t care much about the birds but I feel sorry for the people who got pooped. Personally I think that these birds should be kept away from the cities

  9. I hope we come to a day when every idiot 20-30 yr old “immature”kid get beaten or put in jail or in his or her place in retaliation for these damn dangerous and idiot pranks against innocent people they don’t even know. When someone starts shooting your ass and the public finally wakes up and does something about this scum site “youtube” for promoting and glorifying this, then we might come to an end of this waste of a generation.

  10. Long-DUck_Dong says:

Suck it. Free speech is free speech.

What’s next, banning all the cute cat videos where they fall off of something?

  11. Julie Mainstone-Smith says:

If it was not for us Humans being so disgustingly untidy with our rubbish the gulls would still be our where they belong on the cliffs, if we have no respect for any other form of life, what exactly are we?

  12. sidneyseagull says:

    BLAH BLAH BLAH

  13. everyone who has a problem with this video are a bunch of serious tards, the people here make me want to go throw rocks at seagulls
