Target: The CEOs of Albertsons LLC, Marsh, and Save Mart
Goal: Stop carrying Paseo and Livi toilet paper brands, which use fibers from the already severely damaged Sumatran rainforest.
Three top United States grocery chains, Albertsons LLC, Marsh, and Save Mart, have yet to stop carrying the Paseo and Livi brands of tissue and toilet paper distributed by Oasis Brands. These two brands have been linked to using fibers provided by Asia Pulp and Paper (APP).
APP is a company based in Singapore with factories in the Sumatra island of Indonesia. The fibers and products they generate severely damage the rainforest environment in Sumatra. Ever since 1985, more than a half of the rainforest, roughly the size of Virginia state, has been destroyed. The destruction threatens the lifestyles of the many species that live there.
There are approximately 400 Sumatran tigers left in the world. If the APP continues its destruction of the habitat, the critically endangered species risks extinction. 17 of the U.S. top 20 grocery chains, including Kmart, Weis, and Kroger, have stopped selling Paseo and Livi tissue and toilet paper.
We urge the CEOs of Albertsons LLC, Marsh, and Save Mart to follow suit and stop supporting the two brands. The risk of supporting the APP and allowing the brands to flourish in the U.S. is intolerable. We must protect the rainforest and the species that reside there.
Dear the CEOs of Albertsons LLC, Marsh, and Save Mart,
It has come to my attention that you have continued to carry the Paseo and Livi brands despite their link to Asia Pulp and Paper (AAP). AAP provides the fiber used in the production of these tissues and toilet paper at the expense of the rainforest and its inhabitants.
Ever since 1985, APP has wiped out over half of the rainforest in the Sumatra Island of Indonesia. With the destruction of the rainforest, the Sumatran tiger, a critically endangered species, is at an even higher risk of extinction. There are only about 400 tigers left in the world.
17 top U.S. grocery chains have already stopped carrying these two brands. I encourage you to do the same and stop supplying the Paseo and Livi brands. It is imperative that we, as a nation, take a stand against the APP and its exploitation of the rainforest.
