Hollywood Goes to Sundance and Goes Green
The Sundance Film Festival began on Thursday in Park City, Utah, and Lisa Schwarzbaum from Hollywood Insider is warning that it has been washed with one big green wave. From her account, it sounds like the festival’s hosts, sponsors, and participants are engaging in more of an “eco-fair” than a film festival.
She notes that the free gifts have gone green (BPA free Nalgene bottles), that a Honda Insight hybrid show-car has been parked permanently in front of the festival headquarters, and that she received a press release from a company stressing its green credentials… only to discover it was for the alcohol absinthe.
When Hollywood embraces something so conspicuously, we know one of two things, with respect to the rest of the country– it is the beginning of a trend or it is the cause of the moment. Let’s hope it’s the former.
