Only 41% of American Voters Blame Humans for Global Warming

Illustrating that the U.S. public is wildly under-informed regarding greenhouse gas emissions, a recent survey found that only 41% of voters believe human activity is causing climate change.  According to the Rasmussen Reports poll, opinion on this issue is split sharply between democrats and republicans–  with 59% of democrats blaming global warming on human activity, compared to only 21% percent of republicans. 

Clearly there is a failure in communication occurring.  If the United States is going to take the global lead in fighting this problem, the American public must be better educated on the issue.  On the first day of a new administration that promises to put science before politics, there is good reason to be optimistic.
