Saudi allegedly wants to buy Iraq shoe for $10mn. We need to get off oil now.
Articles — By forcechange on December 18, 2008 12:13 pmAlthough this story is probably a fake, the idea of a Saudi having enough excess wealth to bid $10 million for a pair of shoes, that at its core represents hatred of America (as they were thrown at our president), once again reminds us that we need to get off of oil. If not for the planet, then for geopolitics. Without our addiction to oil, we’d have less reason to be in Iraq, less funding for terrorism, and less excess wealth slopping around the Middle East to bid on a pair of shoes. Not to mention, we’d take a big step towards saving the planet.
Update: Apparently the shoes were destroyed, not that it changes the ridiculousness of the whole situation.
